Emerging Markets

Tarsus has leveraged its strengths in developed markets to construct a portfolio in emerging markets both through acquisition and replication.

Tarsus now generates a third of its revenues from these markets and has a strong local presence in Dubai and China, and continues to build its presence in India and South America.

Middle East

Tarsus is now the third largest international exhibition organizer in Dubai. 2010 saw the third edition of the Business Aviation event – MEBA – which enjoyed a 40% increase in revenues and attracted its highest ever exhibitor turnout and a 13% increase in visitors. In just five years this event has become the third largest business aviation event in the world. In early 2010 the Aerospace Team launched “Aerospace Week” which combined three aerospace events in one - ADTS, MRO and AIME.

In other sectors, the educational event GESS saw nearly 5000 visitors attend the show.  In addition to representatives from Education Ministries from across the GCC, GESS 2011 was also visited by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under whose patronage the event has flourished over the last four years.

In the Medical division, The Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine welcomed over 1,000 visitors for its third edition.

China

2010 saw another significant development for Tarsus and its activities in China when it received wholly foreign owned enterprise (WFOE) status in March, thereby establishing a strong base in the country and enabling greater control and flexibility over operations.

Reflecting the increasing confidence and business activity in China’s second tier cities, Tarsus Hope Exhibition Company Ltd, a JV company with offices in Central and Western China, continued to perform well across its portfolio of exhibitions targeting the medical equipment, manufacturing and leisure industries.

The Labels Group launched a South China Label event in Guangzhou which attracted over 4,000 visitors and was very well received by exhibitors. In Beijing, the China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market enjoyed its 6th edition, welcoming five new destinations and a 15% increase in exhibitors.

India and South America

The Labelexpo India event attracted over 6,000 visitors and increased visitor numbers by 27% and revenues by 22%. This event has firmly established itself in this market and is set for strong growth. The third Latin American Label Summit in Mexico was also a great success, doubling attendance compared to the previous edition.
