Mid East airlines to buy over 2,000 new aircraft by 2030
Dubai, UAE. 06 December 2011 – The upcoming Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) show is preparing for substantial orders for new aircraft interiors from rapidly growing Gulf carriers as witnessed at the Dubai Airshow, having paved the way for designers, outfitters and aircraft interiors support businesses to cash in.
AIME is running simultaneously with MRO Middle East (MRO ME), from 1 to 2 February 2012 at Dubai’s Airport Expo and more than 2,000 trade visitors are expected to attend.
The 163 aircraft ordered at the 2011 Dubai Airshow sees Middle East carriers with almost as many aircraft on order (764) as in service (896).
Emirates record-breaking deal for 50 Boeing 777’s, announced at the Dubai Airshow, meant that widebody aircraft comprise over 70 per cent of all aircraft on order in the region.
Statistics from Centre for Aviation (CAPA) show that, from 25 November 2011, widebody aircraft constitute 53.9 per cent of all aircraft in service in the Middle East. Narrowbody aircraft comprise 32.5 per cent, and regional and commercial aircraft make-up the remaining 13.6 per cent.
As a result of the orders placed at the Dubai Airshow, widebody aircraft comprise 71.1 per cent of all aircraft on order in the Middle East, with narrowbody aircraft consisting of 27 per cent, and regional and commercial aircraft 2 per cent.
Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad between them have over 500 aircraft on order. More than 80% of the aircraft are widebodies, with deliveries stretching al the way back to 2022.
Both Boeing’s ‘Current Market Outlook 2011-2030’, and Airbus’ ‘Global Market Forecast’ found similar evidence that Middle East carriers will spend approximately $390 billion by 2029 to buy 2,340 new aircraft – an increase of 150 per cent – to keep pace with an average of 7.1 per cent annual growth in air traffic in the region.
Michele Van Akelijen, Aerospace Director at F&E Aerospace, said: “Aircraft manufacturers are now fulfilling the huge orders by this region’s carriers from seats to connectivity to the latest in inflight entertainment.”
“AIME is the only event in this region where they can see all their options in one show. The most recent exhibitors confirmed to display these products at AIME include USA’s seating manufacturer B/E Aerospace and France’s Gerflor specialising in flooring, plus the UAE’s very own paint supplier Airchem Consumables. They quite simply cannot afford not to be here.”
AIME will again have its Hosted Buyers programme, where decision-makers in cabin interior procurement are invited to Dubai to attend the show and have pre-scheduled meetings with selected exhibitors.
Registration is now open for airline procurement officials to apply for the Hosted Buyer programme, in addition to registration for visitors at www.aime.aero
