AAITF Jakarta 2014 supports growth of SE Asian auto aftermaket

Jakarta, May 24, 2014 – Indonesia has one of the world’s fastest growing economies and over recent years has witnessed a dramatic surge in automotive vehicle ownership. With car sales approaching 1 million units per year, Indonesia is now a critically important market for global automotive aftermarket suppliers.

With its current position at the head of the largest automotive market in Southeast Asia, Indonesia was the natural choice for event owners Tarsus Group and Dyandra to launch AAITF Jakarta.

The potential of the Indonesian market and the appetite for automotive aftermarket products was clearly illustrated at the launch of the Aftermarket Industry and Tuning Trade Fair (AAITF) in Jakarta. The event took place over the course of three days 21st to 23rd May 2014 at Kemayoran JIExpo.

AAITF Jakarta 2014 provided a lucrative business to business platform for 49 international and 22 local suppliers of automotive aftermarket products to meet with retailers, distributors and automotive modification and tuning workshop owners from Indonesia and South East Asia. On display were a wide selection of aftermarket products including, multimedia, audio, electronics, lights, interior accessories, exterior decoration, modification, coatings and car care products.

Project Director of Tarsus Group, Peter Massey, commented: “The market for serious modifications developed in China 10 years ago. With increasingly competitive prices, modification is now not just a hobby of the rich alone, but accessible to everyone. Modification fans can now improve on their existing vehicles and purchase aftermarket products at affordable prices.”

Mr. Li Jianming, Chairman of Guangzhou Jiuzhou Tarsus Exhibition and Convention Company, organizer of AAITF Guangzhou and the Chinese launch partner, said “We have had a fantastic response to this launch from our existing AAITF exhibitors who view Indonesia as an important emerging market. We are looking forward to working closely with our global industry colleagues to deliver five high quality events across three continents in 2015”

The Jakarta event represented Tarsus Group’s first launch of the AAITF brand outside of China - The China International Automotive Aftermarket Industry and Tuning (Guangzhou) Trade Fair - AAITF, annually attracts over 3,000 exhibitors and 250,000 visitors, making it the largest annual gathering for automotive aftermarket and tuning in the world.

In 2015 the AAITF brand will be replicated to launch three new events; AAITF Istanbul in Turkey, AAITF Bangkok in Thailand and AAITF Mexico City in Mexico. These new launch events will further cement AAITF’s position as the world’s leading automotive aftermarket trade-show.
