Tarsus Group, Organiser of COTTM, Joins World Tourism Alliance

The WTA·Xianghu Dialogue 2019, organised by the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), sponsored by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the World Bank, the European Travel Commission (ETC), the Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF) the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), was held in Hangzhou, China, from 18 to 21 September together with the WTA Annual Meeting 2019.

 

Mr. Li Jinzao, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Duan Qiang, Chairman of the World Tourism Alliance, Mr. Dai Bin, President of China Tourism Academy, Mr. Shan Qixiang, President of the Palace Museum Research Institute, Mr. Liu Shijun, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Alliance, and other representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, WTA members and foreign diplomatic envoys in China as well as representatives of overseas tourism agencies, international organizations, tourism administrative departments, tourism associations, tourist cities, enterprises, universities and research institutes attended the event.

 

At the opening ceremony of the Xianghu Dialogue, Li Jinzao, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, believes that World Tourism Alliance (WTA), as an important platform for communication, cooperation and integrated development of the global tourism industry, not only has great responsibilities, but also has a brilliant future in the process of improving the global tourism governance system, realizing sustained and steady growth of tourism and contributing to the steady recovery of the global economy: Firstly, advance the reform of the world tourism governance mechanism; Secondly, promote the docking between the government and tourism enterprises; Thirdly, promote the docking between tourism enterprises and academic circles; Fourthly, promote the docking between tourism enterprises.

 

The theme of this year’s Xianghu Dialogue is “Growth in Travels and Changes in the Industry”. The forum will provide a comprehensive platform to set the direction for tourism development consistent with the trend and features of world economic and tourism development, present the position of the WTA as an influential international tourism organization in the current international environment, and keep abreast with the development trend of the tourism industry to demonstrate the professionalism and relevance of the WTA.

 

Tarsus Group is a B2B international media group headquartered in London, and in 2005 launched a B2B trade show focusing on the China outbound travel and tourism industry - China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market (COTTM).  On the third anniversary of the establishment of WTA, Tarsus Group has officially become a member of WTA and the membership certificate was presented at WTA Annual Meeting 2019. Tarsus Group will take the opportunity of joining WTA to accelerate the development of COTTM, to empower the outbound tourism market, and introduce more global destination resource providers to China to jointly promote the healthy development of China and the global tourism market and jointly promote the integration and win-win development between the global tourism industry and other industries.
