Zuchex Istanbul sees a record 32% increase in Internationals

Turkey’s 27th Zuchex Housewares, Gifts and Home Electricals Fair organised by Life Media a Tarsus Group company, took place 22-25th September 2016. Zuchex is Turkey’s and the region’s leading meeting place for new products, business opportunities, trends, knowledge and inspiration in product manufacturing and design.

The show occupied twelve halls of the TUYAP exhibition and congress centre, bringing together 432 companies and brands. According to Tarsus there was a “remarkable” increase in the number of visiting countries this year.

The event welcomed 29,126 top buyers from 98 countries. While the number of local visitors was up 14%, clearly demonstrating the resilience of the Turkish market, the number of overseas visitors was up 31.7% on the previous year.

The largest rises came from visitors travelling from the MENA and Asia with marked increases seen from India, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, The Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the UAE. In particular international visitors from Jordan increased by an impressive 72% and visitors from Saudi Arabia by 68% compared to last year’s Zuchex.

“The interest in Turkish manufacturing and design is continuing to grow internationally. Many of our overseas visitors specifically chose Zuchex over other international fairs purely due to the quality of manufacturing on offer at the show and the suitability of the products on display for their home markets.” Commented Lucy Hotston, Marketing Director for the Tarsus portfolio of Housewares events.

“We also continue to see the Turkish market innovating in terms of product design. One strong trend that could be seen this year was the many exciting and interesting collaborations. Established companies are choosing to work with well-known designers and personalities to expand their current offerings. Turkish design is growing in popularity and demand, and this was clearly evident at the last edition of Zuchex.”

Douglas Emslie, group managing director of Tarsus Group, underscored the value of trade exhibitions as channels for business opportunities. “We are always happy to see Zuchex successfully fulfil its role in bringing business opportunities to our exhibitors,” he said. “The remarkable rise in international visitor numbers, not only confirms the fair’s international status but also highlights Istanbul’s pivotal role in the global housewares trade.

 “Without doubt, the buyer profile of Zuchex is becoming more international,” he added. “Despite the challenging economic and political climate around the world, our exhibitors were very satisfied with the results, especially the calibre of buyers and orders placed at the 2016 event.”

The exhibition is supported by the Zucder, the Turkish Housewares Association, who provide valuable insights into market trends, extensive marketing support and are a powerful lobbying body acting on behalf of the industry at large. As well as KOSGEB, IMMIB, TFYD, TOBB and Turkish and international media organisations.

The next Zuchex will be held 21-24th September 2017 at the TUYAP exhibition and congress centre, Istanbul, Turkey.
